Building Family Ties with Faith, Love, & Laughter

Have you ever wanted to know how to make your family run smoother or have more peace? I sure do so that is why I decided to read Building Family Ties with Faith, Love, & Laughter by Dave Stone. This was an amazing book that has tangible ways to shape your family into a purposeful family. The practical examples were amazing and I couldn't help myself from taking notes. My favorite ideas were the no whining rule, encouragement jar, ideas for a family meal, and positive words.

This book was amazing and a must read for any family. There were some really funny stories and also very touching examples throughout the book. Building Family Ties with Faith, Love & Laughter is an easy read, but is packed ful of helpful tips. I can't wait to implement the changes so I can make my family and home more enjoyable.

Blind Hope

Blind Hope By Kim Meeder and Laurie Sacher is the story of a broken woman who rescues a blind dog. At first, Laurie believes her dog Mia is the one being rescued. However, she slowly realizes that her dog is actually the one doing the rescuing. This book includes many good topics that young girls and adults could benefit from reading.

Each chapter begins with a photograph of Mia and Laurie. The photos make the book more real and connect the story for the reader. Blind Hope delivers a very strong message. Parallels are drawn between Mia's experiences as a blind dog and Laurie's relationship with God. The messages are Biblical and inspiring, though a bit heavy handed at times.

The not so good - I struggled to follow the sequence of events. Laurie and Mia are the main focus, yet the book is written from another author's perspective. For example, the author tells of a ski trip she and Laurie take. During that ski trip, Laurie tells a story about her and Mia. The book is a story of a story and thus hard to follow. It almost reminded me of a fiction book because of all the detail in the writing.

The book was a quick read and inspirational. I was touched by the vibrant spirit of a little blind dog and wished I could have seen more of her throughout the book. Mia and Laurie learn some wonderful lessons of love, friendship, and the power of God's forgiveness.

Bringing up Girls

This is a must read for any parents that are raising girls. Both my husband and I read the book and found it very helpful. Dr James Dobson shares wonderful insightful information for discipline, manners, sex, relationships and so much more in his book Bringing up Girls. The book had so much to offer! I loved the chapter on purity and all the other touching examples.

Dr Dobson covers a wide range of topics and also gives suggested resources for further study. I really liked the chapter on manners and ordered the other resources listed in this chapter. I loved the book and it is one of those books that you want to buy extra copies of to give to everyone you know.
